Hello inmates,
I have a Thorens 124 Turn table in very nice working condition. I finally got it hooked up to the pre-amps I rebuilt and played a few tracks. It has a pretty bad rumble, a very low frequency rumble, so low it will distort my woofers if I get the volume past 2.5. The strange thing is that it is prevalent on one channel.
I thought surely I must have messed something up on that channel of the pre-amp. However, when I switched the inter connects from the turn table around, the rumble went to the other side. So I think the problem is with the turn table.
The other channel will rumble too but it's not as bad, you need to crank it past 4 before that one will distort.
I have very little knowledge about turn tables so I am not sure what is causing this or how to trouble shoot it.
Any ideas?
thanks
J
