Big Question for EStat - Real Time Decompression or Not?

As I understand it, if FLAC files are played back directly [rather than being converted first, or what? Not sure right here], then the uncompression must occur in real time.

Yes. That is the case with all compressed content, either lossy or lossless.

So, how do you playback FLAC without running into real time playback decompression issues?

Just means you need some processing horsepower. As I mentioned before, my computer's CPUs run at under 1% usage while decompressing and playing two independent streams. Even 24/96 content. No problemo.

Really doesn't require heroic power. I just like having it. :)
