Classic gear from yesteryear; vintage audio standing the test of time.

Agreed

Still using my Scott 299A which I bought in still-working but unrestored condition in 1997, but used anyway. I restored it properly in 2004. It's been moved across state lines and used a great deal. Still works, no problems whatsoever. Capacitors & tubes have been replaced and bias set but no real failures of anything.

Transformers can last an extremely long time when we are dealing with well-made equipment. I have a brass-blade fan from about 1915 and all 3 speeds still work on the original crude transformer. I still use it. It's not audio equipment, but still says something about transformer life when the build quality is good. The motor's bearings are going to fail on that thing before the transformer does.
