RE: Viking AMFM Stereo Tube Receiver RCS-472

That definitely is nice. Would you please scan and upload the schematic. From the photos, it looks like the power O/P section is SE. That would be about 5 WPC and need high efficiency speakers, perhaps Klipsch.

If kept clean with periodic DeOxit applications, there's nothing really wrong with the OEM RCA jacks. However, the tight spacing makes for trouble, when "modern" interconnect cables, with their fat wires and plugs, are tried. Make your own cabling out of stuff purchased from MarkerTek. Mogami 2549 bulk cable is 2 conductors plus shield, modest in price, and reasonably low capacitance. Use Canare F-10 RCA plugs on the cable ends associated with newer equipment that has well spaced RCA females. On the cable ends associated with older gear that has tightly spaced jacks, Rean/Neutrik NYS352G (nickel barrel) and NYS352BG (black barrel) "always" fit, but the "glossies" are better than the goods. The plugs are acceptable and, where room is truly tight, as good as can be done. If a bit of room is available, Canare F-09 RCA plugs, which are of higher quality than the Rean/Neutrik parts are (IMO/IME) the way to go.
