Home Vintage Asylum

Classic gear from yesteryear; vintage audio standing the test of time.

Those JBLs ae still going for a pretty penny

.. most auctions I've watched since I decided I'd like to have one to drive my Heathkit Lancer 99-clones usually end up at or plus $1000, there's one on the 'Bay now for $1800 OBO.

It IS super-cool-looking, but I've got too many projects to bring in a piece I can afford, and I don't want to afford the ones that don't need work - for that kind of change, I'd go for something like a late-model McIntosh, a Threshold Stasis, or a Citation II core. Obviously, though, I'm not a well-financed, obsessive JBL or MidCentury collector ;)
