Vintage VOM

I dug my old VOM out of the drawer. It has two batteries, a 9-wolt battery and a AA battery. Both were dead and the contacts were corroded. I cleaned the contacts and installed new batteries. It seems to work fine now so far as I can tell. It was working fine the last time I used it.

I was thinking I bought this around 1980 or maybe a bit earlier. I got to wondering if I could find it in the old Radio Shack catalogs on line. I started with the 1980 catalog, and the one there was close but not identical. So on a lark I went back to 1977. Lo and behold, there it was! the 50,000 ohms per volt unit that is listed at $34.95. Knowing me I probably got this on a Radio Shack sale for more like $24.95. I don't like to pay sticker price for anything, if I can avoid it.

Go to the link to see the catalog listing. You will need to go to page 104 on the page tab in the lower right-hand corner
