A Sherwood 5000 integrated will kick butt. Another possibility is a Fisher 500C receiver.

In good repair, either of the above will beat the living guano out of name brand SS equipment.

Upscale tubed power amps to look into are McIntosh models, H/K Cit. 2 and 5., along with the Marantz 8B. Acquisition and refurbishment of these beauties costs significant money. However, in good repair, we are talking about some the finest amps ever made. A lot of SS high end stuff will be hard pressed to keep up with the tubed gems.
