Good post! However, I have to say that it looks like a higher order crossover, and/or notch filter, with some careful toe-in could illicit a much better sound. At that time it was rare for people to listen to speakers on axis. Bookshelf speakers actually did usually wind up on bookshelves, facing straight forward. It might be an interesting project, but not for me! I have to many other projects!
