I just spent far too long with that and enjoyed every minute. I happened on an a 1969 three-page ad that had me lusting for something I knew I could never afford - the KLH Model Forty. Of course it turned out I was lucky I wasn't rich, as they had an almost perfect failure rate. Still, it *was* cool looking, and they sure wrote some great copy.

"In a recent demonstration, the $600 KLH home tape recorder was compared to a professional machine that sells for some $3,500. When the tapes were played back, listeners said the only difference they heard was $2,900."
