RE: are these speakers worth anything? newbie speaks advice!

Working properly, with cabinets in good condition, the pair is worth $200 to a collector on a good day, maybe about what they sold for new. Not working properly, with unknown issues, the pair is probably $20 tops.

So, do you want to work through the specific issues with these here? The guys here are good at figuring this sort of thing out.

These fall in the category of somewhat collectible. They were a lower-end AR speaker. They retailed new for about $100 ea. in the very early 1970s. The higher-end AR speakers are more collectible. And there are more collectible options at the lower priced level. These speakers were designed by Winslow Burhoe, well known among speaker designers. He left AR after doing these to co=found epi. His next design, the epi 100, which also sold for about $100 ea, is arguably a better overall design and the more collectible of the two.
