RE: Vintage amp hum

If the switch you call mute is the same as the Direct switch on the CA610II in that it basses the tone amp, it may be the culprit. My 610 had a similar illness and I finally traced it there. The prior own likely never used it. I do. It's a dog clean and took repeated hits over a month before it permanently, I hope, stopped. I was at the point of pulling the board and desoldering the switch.

You may also want to contact Merrylander on audiokarma.com. He is a resident guru on Yamaha. Before retiring from the bench he would buy refurb and sell them at a loss it seemed but made it up in volume. He also made beautiful cabinets.
