My amp and subwoofer are not that old. However, I am using ADS L710's that are over 30 years old and still original. The reason I have done nothing is because they sound great. Those speakers have 2 woofers each. But they were made before subwoofers were. I disconnected one of them in each cabinet because I like a good subwoofer and the bass sounds better that way. These speakers also have a separate chamber for each driver so the other woofer does not emit passive sound.
