I sat on a Sherwood S-5500 IV for more than four years before taking the time to power it up properly and give a whirl.
I'm very surprised. It's as silent as a mouse, and plays very nicely.
The only pre-powering-up actions I took was to have the selection switch unlocked by a friend of mine. I ran all of the pots back and forth to clean the wipers. (I'm out of spray).
I never expected such a trouble free start-up after who knows how many years of the piece sitting idle.
