If you already have or can quickly acquire quality 6U8s, use them. As I already stated, the supply of useful pentode/triodes is dwindling rapidly. The 6U8 and 6GH8 are (more or less) interchangeable.
Unless 1 of the remaining tube makers steps up and starts making a useful tri/pent, we are going to be forced into taking "radical" measures, in order to keep fine equipment functional. In the case of setups (including Scott and Sherwood) that DC couple a pentode voltage amplifier to a "concertina" phase splitter, a possibility is a 6922 cascode DC coupled to a MOSFET "concertina" phase splitter. An obvious "gotcha" is the wretched PSRR of cascodes, which forces a person to regulate cascode B+.
