Actually, Avery Fisher did not want the hall named after him, and was surprised when Lincoln Center said they were doing it. He donated about $10.5-million in 1973 for the rebuild. Now his heirs demand $15-million from Lincoln Center to remove his name. Avery Fisher was a philanthropist; his heirs are, shamefully, the opposite.
