RE: What were your big leaps in audio

Mine was meeting Bob Heil in the 70's after coming off the road with The Who. He held clinics at a music store he used to own in his home town of Marissa, IL, Ye Olde Music Shop (Heil Sound was founded there, and now operates as a home theater dealer in Fairview Heights , IL).

His clinics were very instructional, as he explained things like mic placement, speaker impedance, recording studio design/layout, and system design synergy. He also designed a mic recently that, while not revolutionizing the industry, was pretty well received by anyone willing to put their 57's and 58's away for a minute.

He also plays a mean pipe organ, and is a ham radio nut (along with his buddy Joe Walsh, who was a regular at Ye Olde in the 70's).
