subwoofer issue

This is not really a vintage question, but the speaker forum did not provide much help, and the tinkerers seem to be here.

I bought big Cypress subwoofer at an estate sale for $10. The amp is dead; it will not power up. I replaced the fuse and it promptly blew another one. I could get a new subwoofer plate amp, but I don't want to spend any money on it. So I would like to just use it as a passive subwoofer. I have plenty of amps I could use to power it. It is just a big box with two 8 inch woofers. What I would like to know is how to make a really simple crossover. What is the simplest, cheapest ways to filter out the frequencies above about 80 hz. Or where could I go for such information?
