The earliest SP12B design that I know of:

(although there also was a version with a silver-colored basket with less "legs", I think)

This "middle" version is pretty common; the basket sort of doesn't look cast... but it is.

and the "last" version (these were available in 8 and 16 ohm versions, some had the vented dustcap as shown in this image, but some didn't, as I recall).

These are pretty respectable 'extended range' 12" drivers; not really quite "full range" but close...
