Home Vintage Asylum

Classic gear from yesteryear; vintage audio standing the test of time.

The bias pot is there now ...

.. I was going to use it get the value for the resistor to keep the bias at or near the schematic value, but had also considered leaving it in, so your suggestion convinced me.

I'm going to start with the basics - not a full-on tear-down and rebuild, since the front-end (literally and electronically) is in very good shape, it's the output stage that is so horrible - the PS/filter caps are next, after the re-wire (I had to re-order some, looks like I used more than I realized from my last two projects). Also, got the .068s on the bench and the little stuff for the phono section (which is critical for me). The rest of your list looks like an excellent roadmap for the next few months after I get the amp stable and assess what I like about it, what I can live with, and what I have to improve.

Now if it would just rain a few days so I could do this instead of yard cleanup, etc ...
