RE: Sherwood S5000 - heat and moisture

As an amateur hobbyist/diyer, could be heat, but looks like there is a lot of oxidation on the copper wires, and even the soldered terminals on the tube sockets, so at one point there must have been a lot of moisture present, maybe a damp basement.

The copper filament wires to the output tubes have a lot of green oxidation, as does the high voltage stranded wire to terminal 9 on the tube at the top left. Some of the filament wires look like they have burned.

There is a resistor with rust on its leads.

There is a brown wire going to what looks like a 5 watt resistor that looks like it may have overheated.

Looks like a project, but you will end up with a nice piece.
