I bought one new in 1977/78. I paid just under $400 for it. It was the top of the line in the US. I believe there was a PL-590 available in Japan.
It is a very nice table. Full auto and built like a tank. I used it with a Stanton 881S and it was a breeze to use and would track anything.
I sold several years latter for $200 and replaced it with a Micro-Seiki.
They do go for $400-$500 now.
