Don't tube amps use wattage more efficiently?
Is buying a used tube amp worth it or would I be just as well off with a new solid state receiver with more power for about the same price?

This stereo will almost exclusively be used for playing vinyl, with the occasional ipod listen along with the audio output from a projector.I'm a college student with little money and a turntable hooked up to a pair of computer speakers.. so I'm not looking for high quality equipment at this stage of my life, more of a 'thrift store' upgrade that sounds decent and I wouldn't mind if it got beer spilled on it or something.
