RE: Eico HF-32 vs HF-52

Those are both FABULOUS amplifiers..They are the integrated amp versions of the HF30 and HF50 power amps..If it were me,I would use a separate preamp but,it isn't necessary..You can mod the HF52s to run KT88s and Dave Gillepsie has a design to do just that..Both the HF50s and HF60s along with the HF52s OPTs are in the range of 6550/KT88s.You basically increase increase drive voltage from the 6SN7 to drive the outputs,
The HF32 is very nice as well..While you do contend with having four output tubes per amp,they aren't that expensive of a tube and you get more power and a lower primary impedance which can be a good thing depending on the speaker you are driving.
