RE: I did a "How cheap a system can I put together with what I have on hand?" experiment last Saturday...

My cheapest was $2 for a Sansui 221 and a pair of Advent 3s. I've gotten a Marantz 2220B and 2240 for $10 each at garage sales. I once got an NAD 7130 for $0 at a garage sale because the owner thought it did not work, when all it needed was an interconnect between the pre-amp and power amp. I have been using it for years in one of the secondary systems. My best deals ever in speakers were a pair of B&W DM1600s for $50 and $60 for a pair of Paradigm Studio 60s. I could put together a couple high end systems for less than $100 each.
