Classic gear from yesteryear; vintage audio standing the test of time.

I did what you suggested unintentionally

Starting back around 2001 I found ebay and like a lot of us went crazy buying multiple examples of high and low powered vintage receivers.

Around 2008, getting weary of it all and wanting a remote control, I bought a refurb H/K 3385 on a lark for $130. Ten seconds after hooking it up, I knew - it totally surpassed the vintage bunch in clarity, dynamics and convenience (remote control...perfect for fat lazy fellows like me!).

Anyway that's all it took. My interest in vintage SS was instantly gone, and the great receiver selloff began. Today my only vintage pieces are tube amps and turntables. And I still use the 'new' 3385 daily.

As for the Insignia challenge, I wouldn't bet against it. It just might win, as radical as that sounds.
