RE: RCA attenuators or passive pre to reduce output from CD player?

If you can DIY, the Radio Sack (Alps) pot is supposed to be good and it is quite cheap. When you find the right setting, you can then measure it with a volt-ohm meter and make a cable with fixed attenuation using a resistor. You will save a bundle and still have top quality!
