Sometimes we come by something so we decide to build around it. Nothing requires more compromises than building around a set of speakers. IMHO speakers took a drastically wrong turn once solid state amps and cheap watts became the norm.
It isn't that AR7's are bad for what they are. It is just they force you into other choices that are bad unless you have money to spend.
But don't despair as you are in luck. UK has a long history of HiFi and has several newer cracking good solid state amps. I have been out of the game for awhile but I remember Creek offer a nice value.
Bottom line, I wouldn't be thinking vintage amp with those type of speakers. If you want vintage get horn speakers and tube amps:)
The ultimate would be to luck upon a pair of quad speakers and amps in pristine condition.
