new Dayton, good woofer for 1954 Jensen Duette?

I have a Jensen Duette that sounds great except for a distorting woofer...i also have a new Dayton 8" paper woofer with rubber surrounds and a heavy magnet that I have not returned yet (got it for another Duette that turned out to be a bust). I am wondering if this Dayton will sound as good or better than the original Jensen woofer?...thank you for any replies.
