Home Vintage Asylum

Classic gear from yesteryear; vintage audio standing the test of time.

It depends on whether you're deaf or not...

I briefly owned a pair of Empire speakers back in the days of Quad and used them as rear speakers in a system with Rectilinear IIIs up front. The Empire were not even close to being in the same league as the Rectilinears and they could be best described as vague.

The bass was poorly defined, the midrange was flat, recessed and non-descript and the tweeter was best if disconnected. If you get my meaning, the best thing about these speakers was the fact they had a marble top.

Other than that they were pretty terrible,
Ed
