Well, unfortunately, it's still not working properly.

It's basically 90% of the time playing as if the volume is at level 1, and the 10% of the time, it occasionally plays normally. This was over a period of about an hour.

A friend said it could be a dry connection on the pcb which is causing it to arc.

Had another look inside, but a) I'm no electrician, and b) it would all need taking completely apart to analyse properly.

I'll try a local electrician if I can find one - see if there's any joy there.
