My Threshold CAS-1 is one of the best power amps I have heard and it is all discrete. My preamp, the Yamaha C-2x, is full of IC. None the less it is very good and the best I have had in my system. The matching and I think all Threshold preamps are discrete.
Yamaha C-4 and M-4 are discrete and sound excellent, but don't pur a crazy load on the M-4. Apt Holman and Hafler are also discrete.
