RE: Mixing older modern, new and vintage kit....

Funny thing is that nothing that I have played through the speakers sounds bad. Some amps sound warmer on the speakers some are more neutral.

My 10Wpc masterwork receiver has a warm sound to it due to the fact that its all discreet components inside. Being over 30 years old.. I have had it running wide open and I heard no signs of clipping. but my speakers are pretty efficient.

the yamaha and kenwood are more neutral sounding, the Denon CD changer ads some warmth to the sound but just a little. The sony CD changer was good and still is but it was a bright sounding player.

the yamaha AVR does indeed gravitate towards bright but ever-so slightly. Well under what anyone could say is harsh.
