Agree with Bold Eagle & Bill Way that op-amps can sound musical when properly implemented, Neff. Immensely enjoy Gearslutz's Stitch333 's dbx 118 op-amp upgrades, especially when fed Mitsubishi DA-C20 pre-amplification (which also utilizes op-amps in signal chain). Have read on several guitar blogs of op-amp upgrades giving solid-state instrument amps more bang for original buck. Installing a V2 chip into Peavey Transformer 112, as designer John Fera suggested, produced an amp which can emulate almost every classique tone, minus cathode cackle. Don't know if there are any op-amps in computer room Kenwood KR-5150, but Sansui SP-2500 speakers love that robust cap-coupled sonic delivery. 73s para Sactown!!!
