Home Vintage Asylum

Classic gear from yesteryear; vintage audio standing the test of time.

rebuild / bring to spec is an absolute must IMO

It may only be a bad contact. However Im a VERY firm believer in a proper rebuild for anything Im gonna personally own or seriously evaluate.

It really does sadden me when folks use their vintage gear and never even do the basics of cap replacement / PS prep. Obviously many are none the wiser. But Im sure many have gotten a bad impression of tube amps / vintage audio gear due to the fact it was WAYYYYY out of tolerance and improperly operating.

Not to mention the damage it does the parts.

Clearly not everyone can do rebuilds themselves. Or afford to pay one to do it. But its still sad to me that the gear and experience suffer from it.

Just me being overly sensitive to my vintage buddies :-)
