Hi, popsy:
Nice unit!
I have one of these at home and it skips. Have you ever had your unit skip and if so, what was the cause? I have cleaned the guide rails, examined the lens assembly, etc. Belts? You mean there is more than one in the unit? I just thought that one was only for operating the drawer mechanism. Mind my asking where you obtained them, that is, if you installed them yourself?
Denon's upper crust players are really quite beautifully constructed. And, for units which are now going on what? TWENTY PLUS years? They do tend to sound nice. I have the regular DCD-1500 and a DCD-3300 as well. They all skip and are quite unreliable most of the time.
My only fear is that they may or may not play CDRs as well as say, commercial discs.
I still love my HHB-850, which I take on the road to capture live performances as a back-up to my main rig.
Happy listening!
