By 1963 the RP 103 horn tweeter and 8-inch midrange were being phased out and replaced by the Sonodome Ultratweeter (and small diameter cone mids)in the higher priced models (Model 3P/3: $160). The Sonodome was Jensen's first dome tweeter. To replace the horn and cone tweeters it was made pretty efficient, though a few db less than the horn. The horn was still (1963) used in the TR-10 ($120), where the driver line-up was referred to as the 'famous Jensen Tri-ette system'. As before, the less expensive models used the P35-VAH cone tweeter, often in pairs. That tweeter is actually more extended than the horn (just enough to lend a touch of 'air' to the sound), and is remarkably smooth (once broken in) and dynamic. However, the horn sounds faster and more detailed.
