RE: Dual TT

Funnily enough, I just went thru this on a 1019, and still must on a coupla-three other Duals.

The thing I would watch out for is the muting switch. This is supposed to mute the audio when the needle is not on the record, or in the leadout groove. However, my experience seems to say that after 40 years, it will kinda be half-on, half off and cause hum, crackle and pop. Just bypass it and it should solve those problems. If it doesn't, the arm wiring or headshell contact is suspect.

The 1019 and other Dual models' repair and owner's manuals are on vinylengine.com, just join and they are free for download. These are worth fixing. I put a beater 1209 in my system when I had some issue with my Rega Planar 3, which I'd enjoyed for 21 years. I sold the Rega, upgraded to a 1019; the Rega arm is better but the 1019 is a better table somehow.
