RE: McIntosh 275 vs. {2} McIntosh 225's

I worked there sometime between 1969 and and 1971 and CM was making the Bozak SS electronics but the partial second floor of the cabinet factory (rear building) was being set up to make the electronics there.
I never did find out if that ever happened.
At the time Mr Bozak also liked a Japanese line of receivers/amps with his speakers but I can't remember what brand it was. Kenwood,Rotel, etc.
When a Japanese rep or dealer visited, Mr Bozak traded a Mac 225 amp for a Denon turntable and that was the last of the tube amps that I know of.
He kept saying that the woofers needed the damping factor of an SS amp but that's kind of a general statement because some SS amps do not give good bass.
I do know that when I bi-amped my 4000's with a SS amp on the woofers they took on a new life for sure. Very tight and snappy.
