General Comment: Old loudspeakers were relatively more efficient in the past. Atkinson tested Smaller Advents in 2006 and found one to be 84.5 db and the other 85.5. That is significantly more efficient than what whoever tested the Smaller Advents for High Fidelity measured. Who is correct? Who knows, but IMO we are getting less efficient speakers nowadays than in the past. Does that make them worse? Of course not. Most of these older speakers are far worse overall performers than the average of what you will find today. Also, almost everyone can afford a 100 wpc amp nowadays, so efficiency will not be an issue for most people.

One thing more. I had AR3As and they needed more than 50 wpc for what I played. More like 100. Also, I had KLH 6s and they needed more like 50 wpc, not 20w. Also, I'd be very surprised if the Dyna 25s could play as loud as 100 db without distorting. Mine didn't seem to.

PS formatted fine in Word. Trouble pasting, sorry.
