If you send to a generic email address like support@mcintosh.com or something that is published on their webiste, it's guaranteed that address is going to be flooded with spam. If the company doesn't have really good filtering they may not be able to sort through it all.
We were using a sales@ address at my company for a while linked from our website. After a year, we were getting 6-10 thousand emails a day. 90-95% would get filtered but it still left way more messages than we could sift through. We finally took it down and replaced it with a contact form.
