I find myself in posession of a nice Grundig cabinet purchased in Italy in 1958. The cabinet is in incredible shape. It houses a tuner with a full range of radio bands, all the lables are in german, and the coolest part is an analog "graphic equalizer" that changes the tone and shows where it's at via little plastic bits with string attached--have to see it, can't well explain it. It also has two tower satelite speakers and another very large (3'x4') speaker cabinet. THe unit itself is approx 6'x2.5'. Someone added an EICO MX99 FM Multiplex Autodaptor sometime in the 60's. There is an ELAC Miracord 10H (missing headshell) and a Grundig TM60/U reel to reel tape deck (nonfunctional).
Here's my question(s)--it's a beautiful piece of furniture, and I'd like to get it going as a functional system. Short term, I need to address the turntable issue. As a minimum, I need to replace the headshell and maybe the tonearm. I am also open to replacing the whole thrntable unit, but I just don't know much. Can I get parts for the 10H? Should I? Am I better off replacing it? If so, with what? Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Shaun
