you've confirmed that the problem doesn't change at the preamp but not at the power amp. Swap the speaker wires at the back of the power amp next and see if the problem changes to the other speaker.

If so, then swap the input cables at the power amp's input to confirm that its not the last stage on the preamp - likely not.

If the problem didn't change channels at this point, you've confirmed its in the power amp and what channel has the problem.

If the power amp is tubed, you might reseat the tubes a few times - with the power off of course - and see if its a contact problem.
