AR speaker polarity question

On a newly acquired AR 4X the terminals are marked 1 and 2 instead of plus and minus. Which terminal is the plus and which is the minus? I found one of the AR speakers at Goodwill and I plan to mate it with a single Dynaco, I have and I don't know how to get them in phase with each other. The Dynaco has the usual red and black terminals. Thanks.
