When stacked and A-B'd, the upper pair will seem to have less bass and a brighter overall balance, regardless of the model. That's due to the bottom one being close to the floor, while the upper woofer is out in space.
Hang a speaker from a rope in the middle of the room, you get the least bass, put it on the floor in the middle of the room, you get more. Put it on the floor and against a wall and you get even more. Put it in the corner on the floor and you get the most. It's all about reinforcement from room boundary interactions. Roy Allison at AR did a lot of research on that and published several papers and articles on it.
