Seems like late spring and early summer brings out all the good vintage stuff around here (southwestern Ohio)! After a long dry spell over the winter and early spring, I've recently picked up the following hi-fi gear:* Nakamichi AV-1 receiver -- 810 watts total power, incredible two-channel sound, mint condition. Cost: $10 at local thrift
* Pinnacle PN-5+ speakers -- highly regarded little bookshelf units, not yet connected to the Nakamichi, like new. Cost: $10 at a nearby garage sale
* Sansui AU-217 - nice little integrated amp, not yet auditioned, mint condition. Cost: Free from a friend who went the home theater route
* Sansui AU-317 -- highly rated little tuner, also not listened to yet, also as new. Cost: free from the same friend
* Technics SB-4500 speakers -- big honkin' woofers, paper tweeters in a separate compartment. Haven't hear them yet, but the Japanese collectors like them. Decent shape, a few nicks and stains. Cost: free from the same guy
* Lots of great used records from various thrifts, including miraculously unscratched Blue Notes, Prestiges, Pacific Jazzes, and various other cool old jazz labels (current fave: "Soul Con Carne" by the Jazz Crusaders, circa 1966).If this keeps up, I'll have to build on to the house. Right now I'm setting up my first real office/listening room/recording studio in the spare bedroom, so all this stuff will go to good use!
