I have Onkyo brochures back to 1986, but no mono amps, so it has to be earlier. The M-502, 504, 508, and 510 were all dual mono construction with dual power transformers. Two mono amps in the same box with a single power cord. I don't recall a single mono amp, but I only really got into Onkyo in 1986 when a local shop picked up the line.
