More than likely, the speakers originally went with a magnvavox console that was biamped with
the crossovers built into the amps(Zenith and RCA did this
also in their upper line models).
Some fool later on pobably just hooked them up to his Pioneer receiver straight and you know the rest.
The diaphrams should be replaceable.
