Sounds like you may have a loose connection or a cold solder joint somewhere.

Cleaning the switch is very easy. Obtain some electronic switch cleaner. Preferably one with some lube. Unplug the power, open the unit up, locate the switch, and give it a good spray. After spraying the switch, work it back and forth a few times, then let it air dry.

If you have a loose connection, wiggle some of the wires that may be feeding the tuner circuits power, you may be able to reproduce that problem again.

It's usually something small and simple that causes the largest problems.
