the manual state a current capability? From about a dozen years ago HK receivers in the 45 watt range had a current capacity of about 40+ amps of current: That's a good sign of an amp capable of driving low impedance's. For reference, Parasound 100 watt per channel amps also had a 40 amp capacity, and the fabled (or notorious, depending on your experiences) Levinson ML-2 had 25 amp capacity with only 25 watts. In general, a high current amplifier section usually is a good indicator of a unit capable of driving difficult and low impedance loads.
In the past, I've used HK stereo receivers to drive as many as 8 pairs of speakers in custom installations with no problems. I distinctly remember one case where the owner had a Carver receiver which kept blowing up, but the cheapy HK receiver drove his system with absolutely no issues, running very cool and with decent volume. I can't speak for the current line up as I haven't tried any since HK has been on the sales block, but the older products were quite modestly spec'd, IMHO.
