Ebay is interested in haveing the most number of successufll auctions- that is how they make their money.

I am sure that their study did not screen for realistic vs unrealist reserve prices.

In my case, I take time to research the FMV and set my reserve at FMV and by BIN slightly higher than that. I also include a complete description and several hi resolution photos showing the item in detail and from differant angles.

I have always gotten my price. Certiainly my method prevents me from taking advantage of a stupid buyer, but then I don't run the risk of a low final bid either- which does happen from time to time.

The original post concerned a seller's frustration at bidders who bid just enough to get rid of the BIN. My answer provided a working solution.
